A while back we covered some of the basic terminology of wedding invitations…terms that always seem to be relevant. This time we are defining techniques and items more related to today’s modern trends for invitations.
Accommodation Cards: Very handy for guests who will be traveling from out-of-town and will need overnight sleeping accommodations. You can list all the arrangements you have made with a local hotel so they can easily make their own reservations, if needed.
Embossing: A printing technique done by pressing an image into a print surface to create a raised design. Ink or foil is then applied to the raised design to add drama and dimension. There are also various styles of embossing.
Seal ‘n Send Invitations: Also known as seal and send, this economical and convenient all-in-one design has a response postcard attached for easy removal by guests. It quickly folds and seals into its own self-mailer piece using pre-marked folding lines eliminating the need for mailing envelopes.
Sep ‘n Seal Invitations: This unique style has your invitation, response card and reception card arriving to you all printed on one convenient sheet with perforations for easy separation before mailing to guests. The price for the quantity you choose includes all 3 pieces along with the single invitation mailing envelopes and response card return envelopes.
Envelope Icing: A printed label, often matching your invitation design, that wraps around one side of your mailing envelopes from front to back. It provides a pre-printed return address on the back and a space on the front for handwriting the mailing addresses of your guests.
Name Tab/Printed Tab Card: Commonly used with pocket invitations, these are typically printed with a matching design and your first names. Provided glue dots will fasten the cards to the outside of your pocket securing the flap for insertion into the mailing envelopes.
Typography: A term that simply refers to the style and appearance of the wording that is printed on your wedding invites. There’s a lot of creative typography being incorporated into today’s trendy designs. Different typeface styles are being combined as well as using varying letter sizes and even highlighting or separating certain details with unique graphics, all coming together for some very unique wedding invitations.
